We are looking for a Design Director to join our Orchard Brands team. This role operates in a hybrid work setting. As the Director of Design, you will direct the conceptual design and artistic development process for brand product development. Additionally, you will direct the design team members to develop each season's color, fabric and silhouette direction with an emphasis on maintaining the integrity of the brand. This role partners closely with merchandising to help create a line that drives sales and resonates with our customers. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Sets pre-season color and trend direction for the brand. Understands target customer and creates product vision with customer at top of mind. Directs the design team to create original, exclusive, apparel ready artwork for embroidery, screen printing, prints and appliques. Gathers, analyzes, and highlights fashion trends of direct / retail competitors and Social Media platforms. Presents ideas for new merchandising and product concepts. Ensures that product development is appropriate and offers are relevant in the marketplace. Ensures differentiation between brands. Works closely with Merchandising, Quality, Sourcing and Technical Design to assure a complete understanding of the design and product development objectives. Coaches, mentors, and motivates the brand design team to provide an environment for continuous improvement and career development for the individual and team evaluation including a continuous feedback plan. Directs and coaches the design team and supports staff in the conceptualizing and creating new saleable products that fall within cost and price point requirements. Execute and adhere to yearly brand design time and action calendar. Travels to track trends and find concepts to enhance brand business. Attends Tex World, contacts art studios and partners with merchandising on print decisions and purchases. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) from four-year college or university; preferably with a concentration in the field of both artistic and technical design; or 10 years' experience in design and/or merchandising. Artistic skills are a must. Strong knowledge of materials, trims, construction and hardware. Experience with Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator and WebPDM is a must. Exposure to and experience with other computer aided design packages is a plus. Ability to create/update documents in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and company goals. Excellent Leadership skills with the ability to coach, train and mentor a hybrid team.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Design & UXEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
